RAWALPINDI: Authorities have finalized a comprehensive security and traffic plan for the Pakistan–South Africa Test series, deploying over 5,500 police personnel and 367 wardens to maintain order and ensure smooth traffic flow.
According to a police spokesperson, CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani stated that senior officers have been tasked with overseeing field security operations. Snipers have been stationed on rooftops, and a dedicated control room has been set up to monitor CCTV footage.
Police mobiles, elite units, and dolphin squads are patrolling around the stadium, while special traffic arrangements have been implemented for public convenience.
Support for Families of Martyrs and Veterans
CPO Hamdani also distributed welfare cheques among the families of police martyrs and veterans during a ceremony held in Rawalpindi.
Under this initiative, Rs15,000 per month will be provided to each family of martyrs, while Rs10,000 per month will be paid to veterans.
Senior officers, including SSPs, SPs, DSPs, and other officials, attended the event. The welfare projects were named after the martyrs and veterans, coinciding with the inauguration of the Police Welfare Filling Station near the old airport.
In total, 122 families of martyrs and seven disabled veterans received financial support. CPO Hamdani assured that the monthly payments would be delivered directly to recipients’ homes and emphasized that this amount was in addition to existing benefits.
He further stated, “My doors are open to the children of our martyrs who wish to join the police force. The resilience and sacrifice of these families inspire us all.”
The CPO also presented shields, certificates, and cash rewards to officers recognized for their outstanding contributions to the successful completion of the welfare projects.
